Archos Announces Android ArcBook Coming for $170

ArcBook

I normally don’t post press releases over here but this one I think is an exception. Archos just announced the ArcBook which is running Android and it has a 10.1inch touchscreen, full keyboard and access to Google Play and it’s only $170..

Here’s the PR:

ARCHOS, a pioneer in Android™ devices, unveils the ARCHOS ArcBook, the first Android netbook with touchscreen designed with productivity and value in mind.  The ARCHOS ArcBook offers students and mobile professionals the convenience of a keyboard and trackpad and the superb user-experience and mobility of an Android tablet at a budget-friendly price.

Productivity-focused software

Available for $169.99, the ARCHOS ArcBook is the ultimate value-packed, on-the-go productivity machine running Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.  It is preinstalled with Office suite Pro 6, making creating and editing Word, Excel, PowerPoint and PDF files easy.

It allows access to all Google services, including the Google Play application store, Google Chrome web browser and other Google Apps such as YouTube, Gmail, Translate and more. It also comes with 15 GB of free Google Drive cloud storage, enough to store a plethora of documents.

Feature-rich hardware

The ARCHOS ArcBook has a 10.1-inch touchscreen with a full keyboard and integrated Android shortcuts keys to maximize typing speed.  Connectivity and expandability have been boosted thanks to a full USB host port and it has enough battery power for more than 10 hours of continuous use.

“ARCHOS ArcBook combines a consumer-friendly tablet experience with the productivity of a netbook,” says Loïc Poirier, CEO of ARCHOS.  “The ARCHOS ArcBook furthers our commitment to providing feature-rich, consumer-friendly technology at an affordable price.”

Quote: " I’m I guess you could say obsessive about cases, I must have cases on all of my gadgets and devices that I can have them for. I look at it as I spent the money, my money, so why not protect the investment right? Cases come in all shapes, sizes and colors and styles and today for review I have a unique one from Slappa called the Rubber Sole which can be used with ten inch tablets and even netbooks. The Rubber Sole isn’t for everybody, but it should offer decent protection. Read on to learn more and see exactly what I mean…"

New review by me on DragonSteelMods…

Quote: "Tablets are great, I have a few of them myself and I very much enjoy them and I really enjoy taking them with me as entertainment, but that’s just me. Many people use their tablets for work, but if you use your tablet for work or play you need a case for it when you take it with you. Tablets can be expensive, and accidents happen, and having a case of bag for your tablet is more than just protection, it will let you take things with you like your work or accessories for that tablet. Targus is well known for making cases and bags and an assortment of other accessories and for review today I have a case or bag from Targus that’s actually called the Clamshell Laptop Case XS. These days laptop cases do double duty, they’re being sold as not only laptop cases but with the rise in popularity of tablets, they’re also sold as something to protect and transport your tablet. This is a good thing I think as it gives us more options when choosing a case or bag for our tablets. The type of bag you’ll choose is of course up to you and your personal needs, today I have one such option for you to take a look at. This bag from Targus is fairly inexpensive, and it’s got plenty or room inside with padding and plenty of pockets for your accessories.  So read on…"

New review by me on Mobility Digest…

Quote: "Bags, bags and more bags, cases, cases and more cases. Guess what I have for review today? Yep, it’s a bag or a case, it’s sort of both. It’s called a bag, but it looks more like what I think of as a case. Meh, whatever, the product is specifically called the Elecom 10.1” Tablet / Netbook Carry Bag and I like it. This bag has a separate section just for your tablet or netbook and then smaller sections for accessories like a mouse and power adapter. It’s not a bad case overall, it’s made of a water repellent material, but it could be a bit more padded. So read on…."

E-volve Tuff-Shell 10" Tablet or Netbook Case Review

New review by me on Mobility Digest!

Quote: "These days it seems netbook cases do double duty as tablet cases as well. When you’re searching for a tablet case you’ll notice netbook cases come up in your results, and that’s not a bad thing as it offers more choices. Well at least I think more choices is a good thing! Today for review I have a hard case that can be used with a tablet or netbook up to ten inches in size, it’s the E-Volve Tuff-Shell case and it sorts of just like it sounds, a hard shell case. Sleeves for tablets are nice, but I like having a hard shell biter as it offers a lot more protection that just a sleeve will. This particular case is fairly plain looking, basic black really, so you could use it for most any occasion, business or pleasure. The case has dual zippers for easy access and the outside of the case is pretty much spill-proof so it will protect from accidents and of course the weather. The case is good enough to be used on its own, or you can safely toss it into another bag and not worry about damaging the contents. "

Yep, another review by me on TestFreaks..

Quote: "Today for review I’ve got a quick one for you of a decent tablet or netbook case from Slappa called the Rubber Sole. The case is made of a rubberized material that repels water so what you do decide to put inside will be protected from the elements. The Rubber Sole is padded for protection as well, and you can fit a tablet or netbook up to ten inches in size inside of the case. There is a single pocket on the outside of the case in case you need to take some papers or cables with you. All in all it’s not a bad case. Read on….  "
